This antique Kurdish Juval (bagface) rug was woven in the late 19th Century with a 'Jaf/Jaff' style weave. This piece features two dynamic panels of colorful geometric stepped hexagonal 'ashik' motifs with extending arms. A beautiful golden yellow border surrounds this design. The top panel of the rug encloses diagonal rows of quatrefoil rosettes. There are several tribal animals woven in the field. Very soft and lustrous wool with a floppy handle. Great wall hanging or floor rug.
